FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BEEstung at the 2013 National Stationery Show®
York, Pennsylvania artist will participate in the big show in New York City this spring
York, PA, February 19, 2013: BEEstung Studio is excited to announce that May 19-22 it will be keeping shop at Booth #1267 of the highly esteemed National Stationery Show® (http://www.nationalstationeryshow.com), “the world’s most comprehensive marketplace for social stationery and related lifestyle products.” The show takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City and will be open 9am to 6pm Sunday through Tuesday and 9am to noon Wednesday.
Artist and owner of BEEstung Studio, Hollie N. Chantiles is full of anticipation, as this will be the studio’s first appearance at the big show, which draws more than 11,000 diverse buyers from all over the world. Those buyers represent a variety of potential distributors of the studio’s work, including stationery card and gift shops; bookstores; hotel and airport gift shops; department, chain, and specialty stores; online retailers; and mail-order catalogs.
Chantiles said she plans to take seven lines of greeting cards to the show as well as a variety of new products, including calendars, journals, stickers, pillows, bags, and jewelry. All BEEstung items are created using original designs by Chantiles, a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her concentration at MICA on drawing and anthropology is evident in her work, such as the line of cards called “The Fables.” These cards feature what Chantiles created out of an old copy of Aesop’s Fables. On top of each page’s text, she painted a single creature featured in the story: the fish, the grasshopper, the frog, the butterfly, and, of course, the bee. Something exciting is happening to the world of Stationery. Emerging artist Hollie ChantilesShortino of BEEstung Studios unveils her new line of cards, journals, calendars, and other paper goods as a first time vendor at the National Stationery Show 2013. In her studio in York, PA Hollie’s designs start out as paintings in acrylic and mixed media designs on wood and canvas. Inspiration can be found everywhere on her long jaunts though the woods. Tending to blaze new trails rather than following established routes, Hollie is a bold risk taker and it shows in her work. This time in the forest and her love of children’s books has lead her to create a new line titled “The Fables.” Borrowing from both loves, she paints realistic insects and animals in whimsical settings. BEEstung Studios promises to bring thrilling new creativity to your Stationery lines for years to come.
My long-awaited Asheville show is creeping up!
I was so happy to find this email in my in-box this morning, from Stephanie Wilder ( owner of the amazing Gallery/Shop in Black Mountain, NC, who kindly asked me to do a show at her fabulous space when I wandered into her shop a few months ago)!
This trip will be taken with my mom! I am so excited to travel with her again after so many years. And, I think she is just going to fall in love with Asheville and Black Mountain!
Here is to a Mother-Daughter road trip and acar FULL of art!
“Our reception last Friday for Ursula Goebels-Ellis was great fun and a huge success. “Thanks for coming,” to those who were here, and “wish you could have been there,” to the rest of you. Our next opening will be an exhibit of paintings, prints, cards, and other paper art by a Pennsylvania artist, Hollie Chantilles. She and her boyfriend came by this summer, and we really hit it off. Her work is beautiful and also quite affordable. If you are in the area, please come for the reception and for food and wine. Hollie will be here to meet you and answer your questions. I love her images of birds and insects. I’ll try to attach some images to this email. Not sure how to locate things in my downloads, so no telling what you will see… Wow! I think I was successful. “
I would ALSO like to share this blog entry from my new friend, Abby!
She came in to the Smoothie bar the other day and we FINALLY met! I am going to help her with her wedding flowers…and anything I can help with, because you know I love a good wedding/party…and she is such a great person!
